Role: Welder

In this role, you will:

Set-up and operate MIG welding machines, adjust machine and wire feed as required.
Normally welding on 16 gauge to 10-gauge mild steel, attaching accessories and fittings or seam welding on parts.
Work from layout marks, simple drawings.
Use scale, square and power tools.
Assemble and tack weld repetitive jobs, finish weld, tack welded assemblies, usually in down and or vertical position.
Operate grinder to clean and shape weld.
Conduct visual and dimensional check of own work.
Support WEG's 5S program in an effort to maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a neat, organized manner.
Notify supervisor of material shortages or other concerns.
Work safely in required PPE to manufacture a high-quality component of a transformer.

Requirements:

Basic:

Prior welding experience.
Able to work overtime as needed.
Ability to work evening or night shift.
Must be able to read, write and comprehend common vocabulary.
Must be able to calculate basic math, including fractions, decimals and percentages.
Must be able to read, interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, plans, layouts and/or templates.
To move forward in the process, candidates will successfully complete: an application, welding knowledge & skill assessments, talent assessment, interview, drug and background screening.
Safety Sensitive position: Drug panel includes THC.
Resides within a reasonable commuting distance of Washington MO.
Legal authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis; visa sponsorship is not available for these positions.

Preferred:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Participation in Future Farmers of America (FFA) or 4-H Welding projects / programs.
Completion of Welding Trade school and/or Apprenticeship program.
Two years of prior manufacturing experience.
