TIG Welder - Night or Weekend Shift

Job Summary:
Accomplishes welding projects on time and ensures that quality standards are met. Follows all safety procedures. Completes other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Set-up and layout jobs using blueprints, diagrams and fixtures, following welding procedures, including the use of rotary turntables for manual welding.
Sets up machines according to work instructions to trim, size, form, inspect, and GTAW (TIG weld) material to meet fabrication drawing requirements.
Drawing review and compliance for final dimensions, weld note callouts, base material and filler material selection.
Solvent cleaning, trimming, sizing and polishing to prepare weld joints for welding
Welds together metal components as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, manufacturing operations sheet (MOS), using electric arc-welding equipment.
Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
Tack welding, fabrication of shop aids and fixtures to assist fabrication and welding
Chips off excess weld, slag, splatter using hand scraper or power chipper.
Positions or clamps workpieces together or assembles them in a jig or fixture.
Videoscope inspection for root side weld defects.
Visual weld inspection using fillet weld gauges, calipers, micrometers, height gauges and final weld fixtures.
Weld inspection for weld size, face and root reinforcement, cracks, inclusions and porosity.
Inspect, maintain and log preventative maintenance on equipment needed for welding and fabricating.
Lean Manufacturing, general housekeeping, work in a teaming environment, 5S.
Daily compliance to customer drawings and specifications to maintain aerospace Quality Standards.
Complies with internal quality system and regulatory requirements
Maintains qualification for welding certifications.
Cleans work area, tools, and equipment at end of shift.
Follows all business policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:
May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, smoke (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels)
Safety training and equipment are provided by MPP in accordance with applicable law, industry standards and company policy
Occasionally lifts 25 – 45 lbs.

Requirements:
Good attention to detail and eye/hand coordination skills.
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to use mathematical and reading skills.
Ability to interpret specifications, blueprints, charts, tables and logs.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Near vision of Jaeger #2 at 12 and far vision of 20/30 or better in either eye, with or without corrective lenses.
Ability to lift 25 – 45 pounds.
US Person Status.
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.Previous experience in metal fabrication
Ability to read blueprints strongly preferred
TIG welding experience preferred, but not required
